IMPORTANT NOTICE

This is for all El Gheko Neighborhood residents: Word has come to us that TUSD will NOT allow any meetings at Hudlow (or any TUSD school) due to the Pandemic (Covid 19). The Ward 2 office was also contacted about meeting there, but NO meetings can be held at the Ward 2 building either for the same reason.

Check back here (2020-2021 Meetings) in the Forum for more information as it becomes available.

The subject of whether garbage pickup should be done in the Alleys or on the curbside like the Recycle is currently done has been brought up in the El Gheko email list server. Even though I no longer live in the neighborhood, I will forever be interested in things affecting the El Gheko neighborhood. Thus my reason for posting his message.

In the past when there were neighborhood wide issues, we (the officers and interested residents) would meet with the people at Ward 2 (Cunningham was seldom in attendance!) and work at a viable solution. This is the best way to deal with this issue also.

The alley bhind my home on Kingston Drive between Caribe and Green Hills was an interesting one It was plenty wide for any truck the make it from Caribe to just past our house and then the alley got really narrow.

There are points to be considered on all sides of this issue. One thing is to keep this issue alive and not just let it disappear due to lack of interest. Posting points of view here is one way to keep it alive.

Some points I have are as follows:
  1. The bin in the alley was out of sight;
  2. The bin in back was on many occasions filled to overflowing by inconsiderate neighbors (not necessarily those who were assigned to the bin) and contractors who were not supposed to put debris into the bins;
  3. Some neighbors would just put their debris in the alley instead of the bin anyway;
  4. Not everyone has a good place to have another bin to store in their yard. How many green bins do we want to see from the street in our neighbors yards?

Other opinions???
